Principal's Message

Welcome to Dunlop Public School!

Dunlop PS is a small but strong school with Kindergarten to grade 3 classes. We are a single stream English only site, with a bilingual Kindergarten and a daily Core French program for our grade one to six learners. We also have a Primary Language Learning Disabilities classroom.

I am privileged and excited to be your school's principal for the sixth year. My most important responsibility as an educator is to ensure that students are safe physically, socially, and emotionally. Every child can learn and grow when the environment is engaging and conducive to learning. Education is the way forward for our learners. Every educator in our building is dedicated to encouraging, challenging and growing each and every student. While learning may be hard for some or take longer for others, our students will learn and move forward if we all work as a team.

This September our learners are returning to school after a year of pivots from in-person to virtual learning. We are putting the same safety guidelines in place we used last year to ensure the safety of our students and staff. As the year progresses, some guidelines may change, and if they do you will be the first to know!

Student well-being and academic achievement are mutually supportive and at the root of our mission here. This year, our staff will be learning about and using the resource, The Third Path: A Relationship-Based Approach to Student Well-Being and Achievement, by Dr. David Tranter. This resource will help us to ensure all students feel safe, welcome and included.
When parents and the school community work in partnership, a safe, inclusive and welcoming learning environment is created for our children. We look forward to building these strong partnerships with you to support our learners.

A vital school council is an essential part of our school, and we will be reaching out for your support as we look for parents to support us in this area.

Everyone here at Dunlop is grateful for your support and look forward to meeting you and your children, as we work together to create an engaging environment that fosters the development of respectful, caring, responsible, anti-racist and self-directed learners.
